A New Option for Joint Pain Relief—Now Available in Imperial Valley

ldr image

If you or someone you love struggles with chronic joint pain from osteoarthritis, there’s encouraging news.

Recently featured on FOX 5 San Diego, UC San Diego Health is offering an innovative low-dose radiation therapy designed to help reduce inflammation and pain associated with osteoarthritis. In the interview, Dr. Evan White explains how this treatment—commonly used in Europe for decades—is now being introduced to patients locally as a non-surgical alternative. [fox5sandiego.com]

What Is Low-Dose Radiation Therapy for Joint Pain?

Unlike traditional radiation used to treat cancer, this therapy uses very low doses of radiation to target inflammation in affected joints. The goal is simple:

  • Reduce pain
  • Improve mobility
  • Help patients return to everyday activities

Because the dose is low, the treatment is typically well tolerated and may be an option for patients who:

  • Are not candidates for surgery
  • Want to delay joint replacement
  • Haven’t found relief from medications or injections

Now Available Closer to Home

At Imperial Valley Radiation Oncology, we are proud to be affiliated with UC San Diego Health—and to offer this same advanced treatment to patients right here in our community.

That means you don’t have to travel far to access leading-edge care backed by one of the region’s top health systems.

Who May Benefit?

This treatment may be appropriate for individuals experiencing:

  • Knee, hip, or shoulder osteoarthritis
  • Chronic joint inflammation
  • Persistent pain limiting daily function

If joint pain is impacting your quality of life, it may be time to explore new options.
